The jury’s out with us as to how these display best – we probably prefer the large broad lip showing as you get the contrast of the rustic reddish brown around the lip against the more subtle chestnut browns and lighter colours on the main body of the shell. The Bulmouth Helmet Cameo shell is another Indo Pacific shell which is also referred to as a red helmet. A great shell decoration or display shell. 5 inches (12cms) minimum. These are mainly exported from East Africa and are quite rare in the western Pacific. These live in shallow water near coral reefs and feed on spiny sea-urchins.
